Nice free museum about the history of Abingdon. You have to pay £2 if you want to get to the rooftop. We didn’t have enough time as it was closing but it seems nice. We just had a brief visit of the museum. But we would like to come back again later.

If you have any connection to Abingdon this is worth an hour or two to see a comprehensive history of one of the oldest towns in England. Pay the £2 and get up on the roof if you can - you'll get a different perspective on the town and especially its brewing past.

A fantastic museum which packs so much into a small space. The locally-found Stone Age tools were the draw for me, but the museum actually covers the history of the Abingdon area from the dawn of time to the 21st century, with some really impressive exhibits. Amazing views from the roof too!

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this experience, but it was very educational. It was fascinating to see some objects almost 2,000 years old. Maybe more. Very well displayed and explained. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. There is a guided tower experience that costs very little for such a rare opportunity to enjoy long ranging views of Abingdon and the surrounding area. Excellent experience. ✨️🎉🏆

The tradition of bun throwing in Abingdon is known as the "Abingdon Bun Throwing" and has a long history dating back to the 17th century. This unique event occurs infrequently and is usually associated with special events or holidays.
What is this interesting tradition all about? The Abingdon Bun Throwing is held exclusively during significant events for the country related to the royal family. A large number of buns, usually with symbolic images or inscriptions, are thrown from the roof of the town hall in the main square of the city. People gather around to try to catch the buns.
The buns can be made from different ingredients and baked with special symbols or inscriptions that reflect the event they are celebrating.
The Abingdon Bun Throwing is not only a traditional event, but also a source of pride and unity for the people of Abingdon. It attracts a lot of attention and tourists who want to be a part of this unique tradition and get their bun from the sky!
Events such as the Abingdon Bun Throwing support cultural heritage and the preservation of unique traditions, making them special to the community and everyone who comes to join in this unforgettable event.

Free entry. The museum is on 3 levels with a roof terrace giving panoramic views over Abingdon. Helpful staff on hand. There are toilets here and a small gift shop. The exhibits are mostly local artefacts spanning Neolithic to modern finds. Good place to bring the kids - will keep them interested for about 30 mins. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Abingdon.

Impromptu visit whilst stopping in the area. Lovely market town, with amazing views and atmosphere that you just don't see very often in town centres anymore.
The museum is a great place to visit to learn more about the area and it's rich history.
One extra to do is the rooftop, where the views are amazing. Staff were friendly and really informative.

It's a small and curious museum over 2 floors and a visit with a paid entry to the terrace with nice views of Abingdon makes it complete. I would recommend it if you are in the area and have an hour to spend, however consider other bigger museums if you are looking to spend a day.

Brilliant building, with a lot of artifacts on a couple of floors. The building itself is gorgeous too, so worth a visit, and go up to the roof for some really nice views.
